2007 Winners

Frauke Bartels

Frauke Bartels

Senior Graphics Designer, PMCS

"Frauke has been a dedicated employee for over 11 years. She has represented the University of Texas at Austin on a national level for campus wayfinding and the overall graphic image of the campus. She has always been the go-to person for her co-workers when it comes to any and all graphic presentation."

Darrell Birdett

Darrell Birdett

Lieutenant, University Police

"Darrell Birdett was assigned to Accreditation as a newly appointed Lieutenant in March 2006. Darrell literally had about 12 months to get the department accredited. He did a great job. He almost single-handedly caused UTPD to become accredited by CALEA in July 2007. This is a great accomplishment for the university and the department as it represents the professionalism and transparency of the department."

Julie Gillespie

Julie Gillespie

Captain, University Police

"As one example of Capt. Gillespie’s exceptional leadership ability, she was given the task of leading and organizing the entire department through the recent revision of our vision, motto, mission and goals. She was able to empower all UTPD personnel to participate. What was in past years an administrative project now became a process through which all rank and file had input and now have pride and ownership in our mission and vision."

Margaret Rogers

Margaret Rogers

Administrative Assistant, Parking and Transportation Services

"Margaret received a customer compliment that stated, ‘even though you did not agree with me and are still making me pay the fine, I truly feel you heard me and gave me the benefit of the doubt.‘ She is the banner employee for a service orientated organization. Margaret Rogers is PTS, she is ECS, and she is the University of Texas."

Stephanie Dussault

Stephanie Dussault

Senior LAN Administrator, TRECS

"Stephanie is the first person to step up and help in any situation. If she can’t help she makes sure the client/co-worker is pointed to someone who can. She has come in on her days off to help in large projects and to cover for a co-worker who had to be out for an extended period of time. She has been an asset to our department for years."

Ronnie Breeding

Ronnie Breeding

Parking Services Supervisor, Parking and Transportation Services

"Ronnie’s leadership comes natural to him. He brings 26 years of law enforcement experience to his position as a Parking Enforcement Supervisor. Ronnie not only talks the game, he also walks it. He has been employed by PTS as a supervisor for almost three years and since his arrival our department has changed for the best. With his experience and knowledge, he has made this department what it is now: a great place to work and a place where you can learn to become the best employee and person you can be."

Melvin Daniels

Melvin Daniels

Supervisor, Facilities Services

"His tireless efforts resulted in UT acquiring the first place for waste minimization in a nationwide contest called Recyclemania last year. Over 200 colleges and universities participated. He stunned everyone when he told them he won by doing “nothing”. He went on to explain that when he entered the contest, he did a normal day’s work and that was recognized as tops in the nation. It seems, for Mr. Daniels, a normal day’s work is award-winning work."

Robert Weisse

Robert Weisse

Building Attendant, Facilities Services

"Without hesitation, Robert performed his tasks for the Lady Bird Tribute at a level above and beyond the normal job duties. I praise Robert for his ability to foster communication, collaboration and cooperation among his co-workers. This is a strength that has built trust and respect for Robert with his co-workers and me."
