
You can help the university set recycling records![]() Help make The University of Texas at Austin recycling champions! The university won top honors for waste minimization in the 2007 Recyclemania competition with more than 200 other colleges and universities, and you can help make the university a winner again this year as we compete in all Recyclemania award categories. From September through August of 2006-2007, the university community recycled nearly three million pounds of paper, saving more than 24,000 trees and conserving more than 4,800 cubic yards of landfill space. As impressive as these numbers are, we can do even more this year. To beat the recycling statistics from 2006-2007 and earn Recyclemania honors, we need to recycle more than two million pounds of paper before the end of August...Remember that General Services empties about 18,500 blue recycling bins from 171 buildings at the Pickle Research Campus and the main campus, so there's bound to be a blue bin near you! The next time you're disposing of paper, put it in a blue bin. You don't even have to remove staples, clips, or rubber bands before tossing papers in a bin. What to put in a blue bin:
