ECS Fact Sheet

ECS supports the university community with services from construction to counseling, child care to utilities. The following are some facts about the ECS portfolio:

  • Pat Clubb, Ph.D., has served as vice president for Employee and Campus Services since the inception of our office in June 2000
  • We are made up of about 1,650 employees
  • We enrich the university with conference facilities at The Commons Center on the J.J. Pickle Research Campus, and the upcoming AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at The University of Texas at Austin
  • Our Child Development Center has been named a Texas Rising Star Provider to recognize the way they offer our community superior child care services for low-income families
  • We maintain the largest combined heat and power plant of any university in the nation
  • We support more than 1,000 research laboratories on the main campus and at locations such as the J.J. Pickle Research Campus and the Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas
  • We have taken safety precautions to make the university one of the only two Texas universities with all campus residence halls 100 percent sprinkler protected
  • We support more than 17,000 university employees with insurance, compensation, and retirement benefits
  • Our police ensure safety and security on the main campus, the  J.J. Pickle Research Campus, the Brackenridge Tract, Paisano Ranch, and the Bee Caves Research Center
  • Our swimming and diving pools, considered some of the fastest pools in the world, have produced eight Olympic Gold medalists and 18 NCAA Championship Teams
  • We regulate about 15,000 parking spaces on the main campus to better accommodate staff, faculty, students and visitors
  • We maintain 13 million square feet of buildings
  • We oversee the operation of 284 elevators, 70 escalators, 120 building power substations, and 170,000 linear feet of electrical duct banks
