Our Advisors

Kristen Anton
Senior Academic Advisor

Kristen joined the CSA in May 2010 after serving as an Academic Advisor in the College of Natural Sciences at UT Austin. Kristen earned an M.S. in Psychology from the University of North Texas and graduated from Texas A&M with a B.S. in Psychology. Prior to UT Austin, Kristen gained experience as an Academic Advisor in the Department of Psychology at the University of North Texas.

Alexia Apollo
Academic Advisor

Alexia joined the CSA in May 2009 after receiving an M.A. in Professional Counseling, with an emphasis in Student Affairs from Texas State University. As a graduate student, Alexia served as an intern in the Career Services Office at Texas State University and in the College of Communication at UT Austin. Prior to UT Austin, she gained experience in residence life at Concordia University and the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Alexia earned a B.A. in Psychology from St. Edward’s University.

Julia Chinnock
Academic Advisor

Julia Chinnock joined the CSA in January 2012. Her previous experiences include serving as a Career Consultant at UT-Arlington in their Career Services office. Additionally, she served as a Program Coordinator and a Career Services Assistant at WyoTech’s Career Services office. Julia completed her Master of Arts in theatre history and dramaturgy from Texas State University in May 2011, and has a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in theatre arts and Spanish from Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Lauren Glosson
Academic Advisor

Lauren Glosson, new to UT Austin but not to working with high school and college students, joined the CSA in January 2012. Her experiences include working with the G Force mentoring program, which assists culturally diverse at-risk high school students with identifying academic and career goals, serving as a Career Associate in the Texas State University Career Services office and as an Orientation Leader at the University of Houston. Lauren completed her Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in mass communications.

Melva Harbin
Senior Academic Advisor

Melva joined the CSA in November 2008 after serving as an advisor in various departments on the UT Austin campus, including the College of Liberal Arts, Department of Government, and McCombs School of Business. Prior to her academic advisor positions, she served as an Admissions Counselor at UT Austin and Concordia University. In addition, Melva has served in many leadership roles within the Academic Counselors Association (ACA) and National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). Melva earned a B.A. in Behavioral Sciences from Concordia University.

Jeff Sellers
Academic Advisor

Jeff Sellers joined the CSA in January 2012 with a background in advising and some familiarity with the CSA and UGS. His previous experiences include serving as a graduate advising intern for the CSA during the spring 2011 semester, working in the Counseling Center at ACC, as well as previously at UT Austin in the Measurement and Evaluation Center (now Center for Teaching and Learning) and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Jeff completed his M.Ed in educational psychology at UT Austin in May 2011, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in advertising from UT Austin.

David Spight
Assistant Dean for Advising

David joined the CSA in July 2008 as the Assistant Dean for Advising in the School of Undergraduate Studies. Most recently, David served as a Senior Academic Advisor in the College of Natural Sciences at UT Austin. He also has experience as an Academic Advisor at Colorado State University and as a Residence Hall Director at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. On multiple occasions, David has presented sessions and published articles on the topic of undeclared students through the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). David earned an M.A. in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and graduated from Truman State University with a B.A. in History.
