National Weather Service Designates UT Austin “StormReady”
In a ceremony on Dec. 8, 2011, the National Weather Service designated The University of Texas at Austin a StormReady campus.
StormReady is a federal program that helps universities and communities better protect their citizens during severe weather by arming leaders with planning, communication, and safety skills needed to save lives and property before and during storm events. More about StormReady Campus»
UTPD Captain Graduates from FBI National Academy
Captain Don Verett with The University of Texas at Austin Police Department (UTPD) graduated from the FBI National Academy on December 16, 2011. The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders that serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.
Capt. Verett completed weeks of advanced classes in the areas of law, behavioral science, forensic science, understanding terrorism/terrorist mindsets, leadership development, communication, and health/fitness. Officers participate in a wide range of leadership and specialized training, and they share ideas, techniques, and experiences with each other, creating lifelong partnerships that span state and national lines.
Congratulations to Captain Verett and UTPD for their continued commitment to making UT Austin the safest campus in the nation.
Craig Pellar Awarded “Outstanding Team Member of the Year” by NACUMS
The National Association of College and University Mail Services has named Craig Peller "Outstanding Team Member of the Year." Peller was nominated by Document Solutions Director Richard Beto and Mail Services Supervisor Hamon Barlow. Congratulations to Craig and the entire Document Solutions team.

Our Longhorn Aquatics Club has won USA Swimming’s Club Excellence title for the last five consecutive years and boasts members, such as Olympians Aaron Piersol and Brendan Hansen, and world-record holder Haley McGregory.
