GRS 390F Professional Internship*
Not currently offered

This internship is designed to give graduate students an opportunity to refine their expertise and expand their intellectual and professional possibilities. Students will use their expertise to work with others in areas such as business, not-for-profit, government, and education. Graduate students bring a number of assets to these areas, including depth of knowledge, methodological sophistication, and an ability to work independently and in teams on long term projects. They gain valuable experience and understanding of how these different areas conduct business as well as a chance to use their scholarly and professional expertise meaningfully in an engaging and challenging area. The internship intends for students to earn academic credit for experiences related to their fields or areas of scholarly expertise while developing new possibilities for applying their expertise. The course must be taken during the semester in which the internship is done.

Internships should be arranged by the student, who will then complete the following electronic form. The student will receive, by return e-mail, a cover letter containing the general guidelines of the internship, along with the Internship Detail Form which requires the signatures of the student, the student's graduate adviser, and the internship supervisor, along with a brief project description of the intern's duties and responsibilities. Before mid-term the intern will receive guidelines from Dr. Darwin for a mid-term and a final report which will assess how the internship enhanced the student's professional and academic pursuits.  At the end of the semester, the internship supervisor will be contacted by Dr. Darwin for an evaluation of the intern's performance.
