The Graduate School is pleased to announce the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award for 2009 to recognize the distinguished teaching of one of our graduate faculty members. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in identifying and nominating candidates for this award in your graduate program.
Enclosed please find a nomination form with a list of required nomination materials. Note that each graduate program is eligible to nominate only one faculty member. The award includes a $4000 prize, which will be presented at the Graduate School/ University Co-op Awards Banquet in May 2009. The University Co-op very generously underwrites the prizes for this award and all of the other Graduate School awards each year.
Letters of support should point out the special character of the nominee’s teaching—both in organized classes and in the supervision of theses, reports, recitals, dissertations, and treatises, as applicable. The selection committee will be interested in the distinctive contribution that each nominee has made toward helping graduate students achieve their goals in academic or professional careers.
Nomination packets consisting of six sets of the required materials (see nomination form) must be received in this office by December 12, 2008, to be considered. If you need additional information or wish to reactivate a nomination from last year, please contact Tom Belinoski, Assistant Dean. To reactivate a nomination, you may resubmit many of the previous nomination materials, but we ask that you provide at least one letter of renewed endorsement, the most current course evaluations available, and any other updated information.
We look forward to receiving your nominations and to recognizing the outstanding teaching of one of our faculty members. For your information, lists of past award recipients and copies of nomination forms for all of the Graduate School awards are available at http://www.utexas.edu/ogs/awards/.
