Each year the Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) calls for nominations for outstanding performance by graduate student academic employees. The nomination categories are:
Teaching Assistant (TA) (Job code 0063)
Assistant Instructor (AI) (Job code 0045)
Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) (Job code 0090)
Award winners will be chosen by a GSA review committee of peer graduate students. Each award recipient will be recognized at the annual Graduate School/University Co-op Awards Banquet and will receive a $2,500 prize provided through the generosity of the University Co-op.
All graduate students (master's or doctoral level) are eligible for nomination if they held the appointment title of Teaching Assistant (0063), Assistant Instructor (0045), or Graduate Research Assistant (0090) at the university during one of the following semesters: spring 2007, summer 2007, or fall 2007.
All nominations must be sponsored by a faculty member, and each graduate program may submit only one nomination for each appointment category (TA, AI, GRA). Nominations may be submitted only by the department employing the student.
Nominations are only accepted on the nomination form (see next section). Nominating faculty members should be aware that NO appended materials are considered in the judging process. All the information that committee members are asked to review in order to make their recommendations for this award comes from the nomination form. If you find you need to expand upon your nominee's qualities and experience beyond the space allotted on the nomination form, you may attach additional pages that address the specific questions asked on the form. However, please be aware that resumes or curriculum vitae, course instructor surveys, research proposals, and other supplementary materials are not reviewed and should not be included in your packet.
Each nomination must include a total of four copies of the completed nomination form. The form must be completed by the nominating faculty member. The department chair or director must sign the form to confirm that the applicant is the program's sole nominee for the designated category.
The Nomination Form is prepared in .pdf format (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or newer - download free Reader). The form can be filled out onscreen and then printed or a blank form can be printed and then completed.
If you would like the nominee to be considered for the Granof Outstanding Graduate Student award, please review the Eligibility and Submission Instructions.
Livingston Award nomination forms (four copies) may be dropped off in Main Building 101 or mailed to the address below. Attach the nomination form (.pdf) for the Granof Outstanding Graduate Student (optional) to the Livingston Nomination Form.
