The Graduate School of The University of Texas at Austin is proud of its many distinguished alumni. Established in 1910, the Graduate School currently awards more than 700 doctoral degrees and 2,500 master's degrees each year. Total current enrollment exceeds 10,000 - making the university's graduate school the largest in the country. Alumni of the graduate school are in all walks of life and continue to shape the future of Texas, the United States, and the world through both their extraordinary achievements and their everyday contributions.
The Graduate School presents two Outstanding Alumnus Awards each year at the spring convocation to recognize the achievements of graduate alumni of the university. One of the awards is given to an individual who received a doctorate from the university and the other is given to a master's graduate. A $5,000 fellowship in the award winner's name is given to a current student in the graduate program from which the alumnus graduated.
