AUSTIN,
Texas–Victoria Rodriguez, vice provost and dean of The University
of Texas at Austin Graduate School, has been named one of the country's
top 20 elite women of 2007 in the April 2007 issue of Hispanic Business
Magazine.
Dr. Rodríguez, who is also the Ashbel Smith Professor at the Lyndon
B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, is listed in the magazine among some of
the country's most influential Hispanic women and has been added to the
list of outstanding women to watch this year.
Dr. Rodríguez's scholarly work has focused on governance, democratization
and political change in Mexico with special emphasis on women's roles
in Mexican politics. She has been a consultant for the World Bank, and in 2000
she received jointly with Peter Ward, professor in the Lyndon B. Johnson School
of Public Affairs, the Ohtli Medal, the highest honor granted by the Mexican
government outside Mexico.
