Throughout the years, the position of County Auditor has evolved into what has been referred to as the "connector" or "lynch pin" of county government. The County Auditor is allowed some independence in making decisions concerning county finances without direct influence from the Commissioners Court. This course will cover many of the basic duties of auditors including: Statutory Audit Responsibilities, Statutory Authority and How to Use It, Audit Objectives, Audit Schedule & Calendar, Avoiding Potential Fraud & Errors, and other common duties. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a sample audit.
