Windows Terminal Services

Overview

On Tuesday, July 15, 2008, Austin Windows Terminal Services was upgraded from Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003 to Project Professional 2007. Project Professional 2007 is a licensed product available only to owners of a Project Professional 2007 license. If you are a user of Project Professional, learn more on providing proof of ownership.

Windows Terminal Services (WTS) provides a centralized desktop that allows you to access licensed software, preferences files and personal files from a variety of computers and multiple locations. Because your files are kept on a central server, you can log in to the same desktop from many different locations. If you use Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) software, you don't even have to be using a Windows computer to access WTS!

Features

  • Access to licensed versions of Windows software (including Microsoft Office 2003, 2007, Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, and many statistical and mathematical applications) that are not installed on your personal machine
  • Your desktop and documents always appear the same, even if you logon from different locations
  • Files can be stored on the Windows servers, which are backed up regularly

Cost

Windows Terminal Services is available at no cost when you have a Windows Services Account with the Data Storage on austin.utexas.edu ($5/year) option. This includes 1 GB of storage; additional storage is available for an additional fee.
