Configuring a newsreading program to read news off campus
Current students, faculty, and staff who access the Internet away from campus can use the UT Usenet news server to read and post articles. You will need to install newsreader software on your computer and follow these steps.
- Set up an account for off-campus newsreading.
- Enter the username/password from step 1 into your Usenet newsreading program.
- Set your Usenet news server to ext-news.utexas.edu.
NOTE: All UT rules and policies still apply if you are reading Usenet news through UT's server. Abuse of the system will result in the same disciplinary actions as if you were on campus.
