Upgrading my UT EID

An upgraded UT EID is required in order to complete certain transactions. Having an upgraded UT EID means that:

  • The university is certain of your identity.
  • You can access any online program that requires an upgraded UT EID. Examples are online exams, tax forms, and digital certificate applications.
  • For actions taken using an upgraded UT EID, the UT EID acts as a digital signature.

You must be 18 or older to obtain an upgraded UT EID, or you must have your parent or legal guardian sign for you if you are under 18.

Most students, faculty, and staff have their UT EIDs upgraded when they receive their photo ID cards. If your UT EID needs to be upgraded before then, you can visit an ID center upgrade location. Alternatively, you may need to use the remote upgrade process.

For more information on upgrading your UT EID, refer to the UT EID page.
