Secure Connections to austin.utexas.edu
All connections to disk storage on austin.utexas.edu are required use a secure connection method, such as IPSec, WebDAV, or SFTP, so that austin.utexas.edu meets the minimum requirements for Category-1 data storage. This allows ITS to provide the campus community with an enterprise-level storage solution for Category-1 data.
IPSec is the recommended secure connection for Windows computers. An installation script, available through BevoWare, automatically configures Windows Vista and XP computers to use IPSec. Procedures are available at Connecting Securely to austin.utexas.edu (Windows).
WebDAV over SSL is the recommended secure connection method for Macs. Procedures for configuring Macs for WebDAV are available at Connecting Securely to austin.utexas.edu using WebDAV (Mac OS 10.4.8 and above).
Off-campus users must have the VPN running when they connect to Austin Disk.
