Where can I obtain Product Keys and Volume License Keys?
Installation media purchased under the Select program (often called "Select" or "Volume" media) is designed to be installed on multiple computers for department deployment. For many of these products, a Volume License Key is required to install the software.
For products that are licensed under the Microsoft Campus Agreement (i.e., Office, Windows desktop OS), faculty and staff at UT Austin can obtain the keys online (requires UT EID). For other UT System Campuses who require assistance with Campus Agreement Volume License Keys, you will need to contact your Campus Distribution Point.
For products not covered by the Microsoft Campust Agreement, that require keys for installation, faculty and staff can obtain keys from Software Distribution & Sales. Before keys will be released, SDS must receive proof of licensing. To verify proof of licensing, we must receive one of the following two items by e-mail or by fax to (512) 475-9233.
- The UT Austin PO Number that line-items the purchase of a Microsoft Select license. Customers at UT System institutions should fax or e-mail their actual purchase order.
- The Dell, Software Spectrum, or other vendor invoice that line-items the purchase of a Microsoft Select license.
Once SDS has verified your license status, the VLK will be released to you.
