Licensing
The version of Minitab that is available from SDS through TXShop is leased on a Fiscal Year basis (September 1 through August 31 of the following year). License costs are not pro-rated. The license cost remains the same regardless of when you join the program.
You must renew your license in the program each fiscal year (paying the applicable renewal costs) if you wish to continue using the software. Renewal forms are automatically sent to current program participants each year.
The version of Minitab purchased through TXShop requires access to the ITS License Server to run. This means that if you purchase Minitab through TXShop, you must have an Internet connection to run Minitab.
- If you are on campus and connected to the Internet, your computer should be able to contact the ITS License Server automatically.
- If you are off-campus, you must use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) so that Minitab can contact the ITS License Server automatically. If you do not use the VPN, Minitab will not run.
Using Minitab on WTS
Students, faculty and staff at The University of Texas at Austin may obtain timesharing access to this software by subscribing to a Windows Terminal Services account.
Updates and Upgrades
Whenever ITS receives Minitab updates, it sends announcements to users. In general, updates are available to currently registered users for the cost of duplication and media.
