Adobe Contractual License Program (CLP)

Licensing

License Agreements

License - Departments

Licenses purchased by departments are permanent licenses and belong to the department. The specific terms and conditions of use may vary by product. Please consult with the Adobe Products End-User License Agreement (EULA) for the specific product you are purchasing.

Most Adobe EULAs do include work-at-home use rights for faculty and staff. Under these rights, if your department has purchased an Adobe license for your use at work, you may install the same product on one computer at home for your exclusive use. The actual license, however, belongs to the university; when you leave the university you have no right to continue using the software at home and must uninstall it immediately.

License - Students and Faculty/Staff Personal Use

Licenses purchased by students and faculty/staff for personal use are permanent and belong to the student, faculty, or staff even after they leave the university. Use of the software is subject to the terms and conditions specified in the Adobe Products End-User License Agreement (EULA) for the specific product you are purchasing.

A Sample End-User License Agreement is available for your reference. Additional product-specific EULAs can be found on the Adobe Web site. Each Adobe product will be accompanied by the product-specific EULA to which you must agree during the installation process. Refer to the EULA that accompanies your software product for the specifics of your terms and conditions.

Concurrent Use (Departments only)

The Concurrent Use option is designed to extend software access to additional users in your department while keeping costs low. Unlike a standard software license, the CLP license with the Concurrent Use option permits an unlimited number of users to access your software as long as the number of simultaneous (concurrent) users does not exceed the total number of licenses owned.

For example, if you had a 25-seat lab and purchased 5 concurrent licenses, you could install the software on all 25 computers provided no more than 5 users actually ran the software at any given time. If your department has classrooms spanning a large campus, this option is very useful as you will be able to meet the needs of more users, while having to purchase fewer licenses.

The Concurrent option costs 25% above the educational license price. It is the responsibility of the department to oversee the use of concurrent licenses under CLP with some sort of network license metering software to ensure that actual use does not exceed the number of licenses you have purchased.

Updates and Upgrades

Upgrades, updates, and bug fixes will be shipped to you automatically until the end of the contract period if you elect to purchase the Maintenance option (formerly "Subscription"). Available with the original purchase of a license, the Maintenance option allows you to budget upgrades and ensure that your software remains current. If you do not purchase the Maintenance option, you must purchase a brand new license to obtain any updated versions of your software.
