Title: Managed Desktop Support Assistant
Availability: 15-19 hours per week and 1 year commitment
Salary: Starting at $13.25 per hour
Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Important Information: Hourly positions with ITS do not have academic titles and cannot qualify out-of-state students for in-state tuition rates. The University of Texas is an Equal Opportunity employer.

Job Description

Managed Desktop Support (MDS) Assistants will provide support under the direction of MDS staff to provide excellent customer service and technical support to customers in a diverse environment.

Job Duties

  • Complete MDS training that will help you grow and preserve your knowledge of managed desktop procedures and standards
  • Politely respond to the customer's problem and convey a resolution either by resolving it at first contact or escalating it to the next level of support
  • Ensure all problems are resolved in a timely manner
  • Work with team members to provide assistance for projects (i.e. Windows 7 upgrade, laptop encryption)

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate with 6 months of experience in computing, problem solving, and/or troubleshooting
  • Active student status at a higher education institution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in computers (Windows and Macintosh), printers and peripheral operations, installation, and troubleshooting
  • Excellent customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, and professional phone presence skills
  • Appreciate sharing information, learning new technology and willing to participate as a team member
