The UT System Office of Telecommunication Services (OTS) recently provided commodity Internet and Internet2 connectivity service to the EDUCAUSE 2006 Conference, October 9-12, 2006, in Dallas, Texas. Wayne Wedemeyer, Director, OTS, made the announcement. “We are very pleased to have been able to support this conference and its attendees by making this service available to the conference venue in the Dallas Convention Center.” During the conference, EDUCAUSE traffic was carried on UT System-leased portions of the Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN) to distribution points in Austin and Houston. LEARN is a non-profit collaboration of Texas higher education institutions to support and provide high-speed connectivity among their institutions as well as to global research networks to support higher education’s research, teaching, health care and public service missions.
