A nationwide campaign kicks off this month to increase understanding of Internet security and to help the public avoid malicious threats on the Internet. To support this initiative, Information Technology Services (ITS) offers a weekly series of online security resources, articles and quizzes. Check this new security awareness Web site every week in October for new items and information related to a different security theme.
This week’s theme is “Toughen Up,” getting tough on malicious threats. On the site, users will find an Internet threat glossary and “to do” guide, several articles and a contest where users who answer all questions correctly can register to win a Web cam from the Campus Computer Store. Upcoming contest prizes include a scanner and speakers. Next week: “Lock Up,” the importance of strong passwords and how to build them.
