It might not be the best kept secret on campus, but WebSpace, a file storage and sharing environment, has undergone an "extreme makeover." Successfully upgraded to the latest version, WebSpace 7.0 now offers all university students, faculty, and staff a variety of new features including:
- An updated interface
- Drag-and-drop file manipulation
- RSS feeds
- File version control
- File tags
- An improved search
- Better Macintosh user support
Users will continue to benefit from the standard features of this no-cost service, such as 1GB (gigabyte) file storage, Web publishing, access by Web browser or WebDAV, secure connection with all access methods, and the transfer of multiple files and folders with WebDAV.
What can WebSpace help me do?
WebSpace lets you publish Web pages, share files with others both on or off campus, and access stored files anywhere you have an Internet connection and Web browser. Students, faculty, and staff can use WebSpace to conduct university-related business and simplify the ways in which they collaborate.
For example, students working together on papers or projects can grant EID access to specific files without making them publicly available. Faculty can also use WebSpace's ticket system for file sharing with non-WebSpace users, allowing them to collaborate with colleagues around the world. Because WebSpace is approved by the Information Security Office (ISO) for Category-I data, research data remains safe and secure.
If you haven't tried using WebSpace, now just might be the time. Learn more from the WebSpace Web site, or just log in to WebSpace and explore what it can do for you.
