CW Belcher Wins University Staff Excellence Award

Annual award is given to non-faculty employees demonstrating dedication, ingenuity, outstanding performance.

CW Belcher, Project Manager, ITS Applications, is one of thirty university non-faculty employees honored with a 2007 Staff Excellence Award. This annual award recognizes university employees who have made a significant impact through “outstanding dedication, competence, conscientious performance, excellence, customer service, and ingenuity.” Among other requirements, honorees must also “have significantly improved a work process or system or have significantly increased the efficiency of an operation or unit.”

As manager of the Abra project, CW has played a vital role in improving identity management and directory services for the entire campus. Abra has been an ongoing project since 2005; it is scheduled for completion in summer 2007.  “It was a nice surprise to receive the award,” says CW. "I feel a little awkward about it since so many people were involved in the efforts I led last year, and I couldn't have accomplished anything without them. I am very lucky to be able to work with so many great folks!"

“People from a number of departments across campus nominated CW for this honor,” says Gordana Westmoreland, Assistant Director, ITS Applications. “His work on the Abra project is a model of outstanding performance, dedication and leadership. Any product or service touched by CW Belcher becomes one of the best the university has to offer.”

CW and the other 2007 recipients received their awards, with a cash prize, at the annual Staff Recognition Program and President’s Reception on May 3, 2007. Staff Service Awards, which recognize length of service at the university, were also presented at this event. Among the recipients were 25 ITS staff members.
