Index Your Applications with New Application Registry

Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Information Security Office (ISO) have created a database that allows UT staff to catalog the software and Web-based applications they have written. The Application Registry interface helps staff determine whether the applications meet the Minimum Security Standards for Application Development and Administration.

Application information that you enter can be organized and searched so that you can keep a record of the applications you have created as well as view what others have created. The interface also allows for templates so that if you have several similar applications, you can enter them easily and efficiently in the database.

The Application Registry interface includes nine mandatory questions that help you classify your application with regards to security and eight additional, typically optional, questions that determine the level of compliance of your application.

You can use this service at any time, but it is especially useful if you are looking for already-existing solutions others have written or are preparing for an audit of your applications. The Application Registry database and interface are provided at no cost to UT faculty and staff.

ITS and ISO would like to thank the many departments across campus that contributed to the Application Registry effort:

  • Payroll Services
  • School of Law
  • ITS Applications
  • ITS Systems
  • Technology Resources for Employee and Campus Services
  • Red McCombs School of Business
  • University of Texas Libraries
  • Office of Accounting
  • Division of Continuing and Innovative Education

If you have any questions regarding the Application Registry, please contact ISO or the ITS Help Desk.
