LabMan

Overview

UT-LabMan is a cross-platform client/server based software system designed to manage the day-to-day tasks associated with a computer lab, such as managing and controlling lab facilities. LabMan controls access to facility computers, allows users to sign up on waiting lists, makes and announces computer assignments, queues user help requests, and remotely administers the facility. UT-LabMan also logs workstation usage, login and logout actions, station down time and user help requests.

  • Validate logins with Active Directory, LDAP, MS Domain, UT-EID and per-lab accounts
  • Augment validation with per-lab revoked and departmental users lists
  • Provide and enforce waiting lists when the lab is busy
  • Enforce workstation time limits
  • Run 3rd-party utilities at logout and on-demand for multiple stations at once
  • Operate an automated help request system with issue description
  • Log workstation usage and other lab activity
  • Provide Web-based status pages
