Adobe ColdFusion

New Users

ITS recommends using ColdFusion Studio, which is bundled with Macromedia Dreamweaver, for editing and developing ColdFusion applications.

University students, faculty and staff can publish database driven interactive Web content using ColdFusion MX. The following steps will guide you through the process of setting up a ColdFusion development environment for use with Microsoft Access.

  1. Subscribe to Windows Disk, Windows Web Publishing, and ColdFusion services.
  2. Create your Microsoft Access database in the database subdirectory of your Windows account home directory.
  3. Send a request to cfadmin@austin.utexas.edu to register your MS Access .mdb file as a "data source" (two data sources are allowed per account). Include the name of your Access .mdb file which you wish to use as a data source. You will be notified by e-mail when the data source has been registered with the ColdFusion server.
  4. Move your HTML and ColdFusion templates (.cfm) source files to the www subdirectory in your Windows account home directory. Files that you place in this directory will be available at: http://web.austin.utexas.edu/mydirectory.
