The university provides an online job search and application process for regular, non-academic employment as well as for our in-house temporary service, UTemps.
Important: Before you begin the application process, be sure you have created an EID and password. The EID and password are required to complete the application.
If you're looking for an academic position, visit the Faculty Recruitment Web site or directly contact a college or academic unit.
Eligibility for Employment
You're eligible for employment if you're a citizen or national of the United States or a lawful permanent resident. If you need assistance in determining your U.S. employment eligibility with the university, please contact our International Office by calling 512-471-1211.
If you're hired, you'll have to complete the following to be sure you're eligible for the position.
- University ethics statement—English, Español
- Selective service registration (men only)
- Verification of Identity and Work Authorization (I-9)
Completing your Application
Take the following steps to create your application to the university.
- If you have not done so, create your EID and password.
- Log on to the Online Application using your EID and password.
- Select the "Resume-based Application" option and complete the following:
- Personal Information: Who are you? How can we reach you?
- Confidential Information: Five simple, legally-required questions.
- Conviction Information: All positions at the university are security sensitive and a background check will be conducted on all new applicants hired.
- Resumé: Free-form space (it's easiest to copy and paste your existing resumé into this box).
- Apply for a specific job: Tell us the job number; we tell you the qualifications. You may also choose "go to my application" from the job description. As soon as you certify that you are qualified, you'll immediately see the interview information for the job, including who to contact and any additional materials requested by the hiring department.
While in your online application, you can see a list of jobs you've applied for by clicking on the "Job Matches" link. You can also view and/or print a copy of your application by choosing "View/Print".
Accommodation

To be considered for a specific job vacancy, you must:
- Meet all of the required qualifications for the position
- Be able to perform all of the functions, and
- Be willing and able to work under the conditions described
A qualified applicant with a disability who wishes to request reasonable accommodation for a specific position may contact the Human Resource Service Center for further information and assistance.
Testing
University typing and spelling tests are offered on campus at the Human Resource Service Center on the second floor lobby of the North Office A Building (NOA) located at 101 E. 27th St.
Walk-in testing:
8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday
You may take typing tests twice a week, once a day. You may take spelling tests once every six months. Your highest score for each test will be kept.
To schedule testing outside the Austin area, please contact the Human Resource Service Center at 512 471-4772 or 1-800-687-4178. If you live out of state, you may also contact your local employment office to have them coordinate testing with the Human Resource Service Center.
