Although all employees are encouraged to use annual leave in the year in which it accrues, employees may carry forward unused vacation from one fiscal year to the next. The schedule above indicates the maximum carry forward authorized by the Texas Government Code for full-time employees. At the close of this current fiscal year, annual leave hours accrued in excess of the maximum carry forward will be converted to the employee’s sick leave balance. Regular employees appointed for less than full-time will be eligible to carry forward in proportion to their appointment. Total carry forward for any employee may never exceed the maximum number of hours indicated in the Texas Government Code. |
