My Background

Born in Houston, TX, and raised in south Louisiana, I studied classical languages, philosophy, and biology as an undergraduate (Spring Hill College), and my M.S. (Loyola, New Orleans) and Ph. D. (Yale U.) were both in Biology. I have been on the faculty at UT since 1978. I am currently a Professor in the Section of Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology of the School of Biological Sciences. My teaching and research interests can be found at my web page, http://www.sbs.utexas.edu/roux/. Thus far my experience in conflict mediation has come primarily from many years of problem solving for faculty while serving in diverse administrative and committee roles here at UT.  I will receive more formal training in courses and workshops during the current academic year.
