My Background

            Born in Houston, TX, and raised in south Louisiana, I studied classical languages, philosophy, and biology as an undergraduate (Spring Hill College), and my M.S. (Loyola, New Orleans) and Ph. D. (Yale U.) were both in Biology. I have been on the faculty at UT since 1978. I am currently a Professor in the Section of Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology of the School of Biological Sciences. Thus far my experience in conflict mediation has come primarily from many years of problem solving for faculty while serving in diverse administrative and committee roles here at UT.  I will receive more formal training in courses and workshops during the current academic year.
