To learn more about the types of required and optional training we offer, read the course descriptions below.
NEW! On-line Job Postings Training (optional training)
Use this training module on job postings to help you navigate your way through hiring and separating employees at Facilities Services and PMCS. This module can be used by search committees, hiring officials, delegates in HRMS, and administrative staff. EID is required. This video may take some time to load.

The courses listed on this page are required for all or some of our employees. Read the details below to determine which courses you're required to take. New Employee Welcome (PN 1000)
Required for all new university employees
Take this course as soon as possible after you are hired because it provides an introduction to the university's culture as well as an overview of the benefits, such as insurance and retirement programs for eligible employees. Compliance Training (CW)
Required for all university employees
All university employees are required to complete compliance training. Compliance training courses are available online so employees can complete the training at their own pace. Log in to your training profile to access compliance training courses and find out what classes you currently need to complete.
Facilities Services and PMCS New Employee Orientation (PP 273)
Required for all new Facilities Services and PMCS employees
This workshop introduces new employees to the Facilities Services and Project Management and Construction Services, where they can learn the mission of the departments; tour the Facilities Complex; discuss holiday, vacation, and sick leave; receive information about university procedures; and learn about appropriate workplace behavior, university vehicle usage, equal employment opportunity, and what constitutes sexual harassment. Sexual Harassment Training (PP 003)
Required for all new university employees
All new employees are required to take this Sexual Harassment Training within 30 days of their hiring date. EEO/Sexual Harassment training is offered monthly, in conjunction with our new employee orientation. Call Facilities Services Training Manager Jennifer Heath at 512-471-6138 for more information.
OH 101 Hazard Communication
Required for all Facilities Services and PMCS employees
All Facilities Services and Project Management and Construction Services employees are required to take Hazard Communication training. You may take Hazard Communication training online (EID required) or in the classroom. Log in to TXClass to see a list of classroom dates.
OH 102 Site Specific Hazard Communication
Required for all employees who work with chemicals/hazardous materials
Employees who work with chemicals or hazardous products must receive Site-specific Hazard Communication training before they work with the product. Your supervisor will arrange any needed training, which will be conducted within the shop or work area by a knowledgeable staff member. To ensure that employees receive credit for the course, supervisors must document the training on the Site-specific Training Record form (pdf), keep copies of the record, and mail the completed original to Training at mail code H9500.
Driver Training
Required for all employees who drive a university vehicle
Employees who drive a university vehicle must complete a driver's training class every three years. The university offers online training through the "I Drive Safely" program. Facilities Services and PMCS employees may call Jaime Davis at 512-471-3524 to obtain login information for the online driving class. Facilities Services and PMCS employees who have taken a defensive driving course within the last three years may meet the university training requirement by mailing a copy of the certificate to Personnel Services at Campus Mail Code: H9500, to the attention of Jaime Davis or Benita Longoria. Other university employees can obtain driver training and related information at the Controller's UT Drivers site.
Optional Training
Adult & Child CPR/AED (PP 697)
In this course you will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of strokes, heart attacks and cardiac arrests, as well as choking. You will learn when to call 911, and how to open an obstructed airway. You will also learn how to perform CPR on adults and children, and how to use an AED. Customer Satisfaction (PP956)

English as a Second Language (E.S.L.)
ESL classes are provided for Facilities Services and Project Management and Construction Services employees who want to speak and write English for everyday use. Please call 512-471-6138 for more information.
FAMIS Training
Improve your FAMIS software skills by taking this training program. If you need FAMIS to do your job, please complete the FAMIS Role Authorization form, get the appropriate signatures, and send it to WORQS Manager Stephanie Dussault. If authorization is approved, you will be contacted by the Training Department to schedule training. If you have questions about the process or need to schedule additional FAMIS training, contact Debrah Fields at 512-471-3871.
First Aid with Adult and Child CPR/AED (PP 224)
In this course you will learn how to recognize breathing problems, strokes, seizures, head and spinal injuries, burns caused by heat and electricity, bites and stings, cold and heat emergencies, poisoning emergencies, and bleeding emergencies. You will also learn the basics of CPR and the use of a defibrillator (also known as an AED) on both adults and children. This class is recommended for shop personnel. General Education Development (G.E.D.)
Finish your high school diploma with General Education Development (G.E.D.) classes held on campus in the Service Building, Room 132-A. Facilities Services and Project Management and Construction Services offers G.E.D. classes every Friday. Tutors are on-hand to help in English and in Spanish. Many employees have successfully completed their G.E.D. You can too. Talk to your supervisor about attending the classes, and complete a training request form.
Inclusiveness at Work (PP 860)
In this class we'll discuss what diversity and inclusiveness mean, explore similarities and differences we have with those with whom we work, and determine ways to communicate with them better. To enroll or learn more about course schedules, log in to TXClass.
Leading Effective Meetings & Communication Skills (PP 895)
In this course you will learn how to plan a meeting effectively, prepare an agenda, notify attendees properly, control the discussion, and record the minutes properly.
