AUSTIN, Texas -Dec. 4, 2008- Elizabeth Warnock Fernea, professor emerita of comparative literature and Middle Eastern studies who taught for 24 years at The University of Texas at Austin, died Dec. 2 at the age of 81.

Liberal Arts Senior Earns Prestigious Marshall Scholarship

AUSTIN, Texas -Nov. 25, 2008- A sociologist in the Population Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin has been awarded a $365,000 grant by the National Science Foundation to examine the educational experiences of kindergarten through 12th-grade students with learning disabilities.

The Pro Bene Meritis Award is the highest honor the college bestows in recognition of individuals who are committed to the liberal arts, who have made outstanding contributions in professional or philanthropic pursuits, or who have participated in service related to the College of Liberal Arts.
