AUSTIN, Texas -Nov. 25, 2008- A sociologist in the Population Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin has been awarded a $365,000 grant by the National Science Foundation to examine the educational experiences of kindergarten through 12th-grade students with learning disabilities.

AUSTIN, Texas -Nov. 10, 2008- The College of Liberal Arts invites nominations for the 2009 Pro Bene Meritis Awards. Submissions are due at noon, Friday, Jan. 9, 2009.
The Pro Bene Meritis Award is the highest honor the college bestows in recognition of individuals who are committed to the liberal arts, who have made outstanding contributions in professional or philanthropic pursuits, or who have participated in service related to the College of Liberal Arts.

Task Force Recommends Gender Equity Plan
Co-Chair Gretchen Ritter advocates initiative to eliminate faculty gender gap
AUSTIN, Texas -Nov. 4, 2008- The Gender Equity Task Force, created by the provost of The University of Texas at Austin in March 2007, has recommended in its report that the university develop and enact a 5-10 year gender equity plan to "reduce or eliminate faculty gender inequity--specifically with respect to hiring, promotion, salaries and governance."
