Live Webcast of Liberal Arts Commencement
The College of Liberal Arts will be broadcasting its graduation ceremony live over the internet on Saturday, Dec. 6, beginning at 6 pm CST.

The college received many requests from students to broadcast the event so that family and friends who could not attend in person would still be able to see the ceremony. We were more than happy to accommodate those requests and hope to continue to do so in the future.
When and where is the fall commencement ceremony?
A joint liberal arts fall commencement ceremony for Undergraduate Studies and Graduate Studies will be held at the Frank Erwin Center on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at 6 p.m. The Frank Erwin Center is located at 1701 Red River St.
Due to the ongoing renovation of the Performing Arts Center, Liberal Arts Graduate Studies will participate in the liberal arts joint commencement ceremony for the fall commencement exercise only.
Tickets are not required for the ceremony. Guest seating will open a 5 p.m.
What do I need to know about the day of commencement?
Undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral Candidates
Please arrive at the Lone Star Room in the Frank Erwin Center at 5 p.m. to check in with a liberal arts staff member and obtain a name card (which will be read as you cross the stage). Enter the Erwin Center through the Red River St. entrance. Do not bring any valuables that you cannot carry with you at all times, as you will not be able to leave anything in the preparation room. A professional photographer will take your picture as you cross the stage. Information on ordering photographs will be included in the commencement program.
What do I need to wear to the ceremony?
Undergraduate Candidates
Academic regalia (cap and gown) are required for the Liberal Arts ceremony, and may be purchased from the University Co-op. Cap tassels and stoles for the College of Liberal Arts undergraduate degree candidates are white. More information about regalia can be found on the Co-op's web site. Click on “Graduation.”
Master's and Doctoral Candidates
Academic regalia (cap and gown) are required for the liberal arts ceremony, and may be rented or purchased from the University Co-Op. More information about regalia can be found on the COOP's web site. Click on “Graduation.”
The University Co-op will open the Graduation Department on Wednesday, October 1st. They are having a doctoral regalia sale October 1-3. All doctoral regalia will be sold at 28% off their cost.

- Oct. 1st: Graduation Department opens.
- Oct. 1st-3rd: Faculty Regalia Sale (28% off)
- Oct. 17th - Last day to purchase Doctoral Regalia
- Nov. 7th - Last day to rent doctoral regalia -- Both faculty and students!
- Nov. 21st - Last day to buy Master's Regalia
- Nov. 28th - Last day to buy Bachelor's Regalia
We recommend sending invitations out to arrive 2 weeks prior to the ceremony. Invitation orders take 2-3 business days to process.

- Bachelors Regalia Package (Cap, Gown, Tassel, Stole): $43.48 plus tax.
- Masters Regalia Package (Cap, Gown, Tassel, Hood): $48.69 plus tax.
- Doctoral Rentals: Students may choose several options ranging from $45.00-$210.00.
- Doctoral Purchases: Many options available, pricing varies.

Do I need to do anything before commencement?
Undergraduate Candidates
All fall undergraduate degree candidates must meet their degree requirements and apply to graduate by Oct. 22, 2008. Participation in the College of Liberal Arts ceremony does not constitute graduation from the University of Texas at Austin.
To apply to graduate go to http://www.utexas.edu/cola/graduation/. Click on “Graduation Application” starting Sept. 15, 2008. Complete liberal arts commencement information will be mailed to you after the fall graduation application deadline has passed.
Master's and Doctoral Candidates
Graduate students will need to apply to graduate as usual with the Graduate School. More information about deadlines and requirements can be found on the Graduate School web site.

What if I have a guest needing special services?
Guests with mobility issues should enter the Frank Erwin Center on the Red River Street side of the building. Ushers will be at these doors to help you to the elevator and to seating.
