“Volunteering and fundraising bring us together as a community, helping us care for our children.”

The Child Development Center encourages families to donate to the One to Grow On campaign

Giving to the campaign not only builds The University of Texas at Austin Child Development Center community, but also contributes to a sense of shared purpose and accomplishment. The center is grateful to the 96 families that made campaign contributions in 2006-2007, which represents 31 percent of all Child Development Center families.

Please plan to give to the One to Grow On annual campaign this year, and help reach our fundraising goals. Child Development Center families who contribute more than $25 toward the One to Grow On campaign will have their names listed on a donor panel for the next year.

In the fall and in the spring, look for the Giving Tree at your center. It provides parents with opportunities to “pick an apple” representing a specific item requested by your child’s teacher. By picking an apple you will directly benefit your child’s classroom, the center and help us reach our One to Grow On Goal!

Success for One to Grow On 2006-2007 One to Grow On Campaign 2007-2008

Thanks to the generous contributions of Child Development Center families and grandparents, the center surpassed its $15,000 goal for the year! The campaign generated $15,400, which is the most the UTCDC campaign has ever raised and represents a 66 percent increase from prior year giving. In addition, more than 50 UTCDC grandparents contributed to the One to Grow On campaign, generating more than $3,200. This extraordinary support has enabled the center to meet all of its annual goals.

  • Staff Appreciation and Development — $1,000 donated allowed the center to host three teacher/staff appreciation luncheons, create “Final Exam Survival Kits” for Child Development Center student assistants, and support teacher training and continued learning.
  • Classroom and Center Enhancement — $4,000 donated bought needed materials and equipment for each of the 26 classrooms.
  • Increase Shade Areas — $10,400 donated purchased canopies for the main playgrounds at both the San Jacinto and Comal locations, a new tree for the Comal Center, and water misters for the San Jacinto Center.

Total Spending $15,400

This fiscal year presents many opportunities to enhance the learning environment for our children. To meet these top priorities, the center has set a fundraising goal of $12,500.

  • Staff Appreciation and Development — $1,000 needed to host two teacher appreciation lunches, ice cream socials at each location, provide “Survival Kits” to Child Development Center student assistants, and to support teacher training and continuing education opportunities.
  • Classroom and Center Enhancement— $2,500 needed to provide stipends for lead teachers to purchase classroom materials and equipment, and to fund center-wide improvements.
  • Capital Improvements— $9,000 needed to purchase commercial ice machines for center wide use throughout the year and to keep our children and teachers cool in the heat of summer, benches for both centers, and to improve playground equipment.

Total Goal = $12,500
