Technology Classroom Support
How to make the most of UT Austin's classrooms equipped with media consoles—training sessions, instructional strategies, and presentation tips for effective use of specific equipment.

Blackboard Course Management Software
Step-by-step online tutorials provide a place to find help day or night, reinforce training sessions, and cover specific tools in detail. Blackboard FAQs are also available.

eGradebook
UT Austin's customized eGradebook allows instructors and their designees to grade assignments and post the grades in a secure format, in accordance with the UT Student Confidentiality Policy. Students can access their own grades by class, using their UT EIDs.

Blogging
Blogging—a contraction of "Web logging"—is a method of posting information to an on-line diary. DIIA offers faculty advice on using blogging to enhance their instruction.

Classroom Response System
A Classroom Resonse System is technology that allows an instructor to present a question to a class, allows students to enter their answers into a device and instantly aggregates and summarizes students' answers to provide feedback to the instructor and students.

Podcasting
Podcasting—a term coined from "iPod" and "broadcasting"—is an alternative method of syndicating audio and video material, with listeners or viewers using a portable digital device or computer as the receiver. DIIA offers faculty advice on using podcasting to enhance their instruction.

Second Life
Second Life offers a multi-user virtual environment—a 3-D virtual world built and owned by its residents, whose numbers have grown to exceed millions from around the globe. DIIA offers faculty advice on using virtual worlds to enhance their instruction.

Webcasting
Webcasting is the broadcasting of an audio/video presentation over the internet, usually in a streaming format. DIIA offers faculty advice on using podcasting to enhance their instruction.

Wikis
A wiki is a real time, collaborative Web page writing and editing tool in which any number of people can participate. DIIA offers faculty advice on using wikis to enhance their instruction.

PowerPoint Resources
Step-by-step online instructions and tips for building better presentations, including how to integrate multimedia. Links to other online resources also available.

Multimedia Lab
Located at the Center for Instructional Technologies in GSB 2.130, DIIA's high-end self-service computer lab is available for hands-on classes and for course-related individual and group projects. Step-by-step instructions for using lab equipment is provided online, and knowledgeable proctors are available.

How to
Lab software tutorials and annotated links to resources on Web building, multimedia, and related technology and project management topics.

Technology Enhanced Learning Committee Final Report
The Technology Enhanced Learning Committee (TELC) was appointed and charged on March 31, 1999 by Executive Vice President and Provost, Dr. Sheldon Ekland-Olson. In their March 8, 2000 report the committee provided a framework for communicating UT Austin's view of TEL/DE and a platform for continued policy development, as well as academic and resource planning.
