Teaching and Learning Resources

Enhancing Teaching Excellence
From nuts-and-bolts to the the newest advances in pedagogical theory, DIIA provides a wide range of resources for both new faculty and experienced educators who want to develop their instructional expertise.

Designing Your Course Syllabus

The purpose of the syllabus is to communicate how student learning will develop and progress over the semester and how the instructor will assess the students' learning. It is not only what is stated in the syllabus, but how it clearly details the responsibilities of both the students and the instructor for that course.

Teaching With Technology
Newly-equipped technology classrooms, Blackboard class Web sites, multimedia components in PowerPoint presentations—DIIA's service centers can provide the support you need to make effective use of new instructional tools.

Graduate Student Instructor Program
Opportunities to advance pedagogical, professional, and personal development form the core of the Graduate Student Instructors Program, with seminars for new and experienced GSIs, midterm assessment and individual consulting, and the newly developed ASPECTS program.

~FAST Tex and IITAP
Pairing faculty with vision and technology-savvy students is a recipe for success, as the mushrooming number of projects developed through ~FAST Tex is showing. And projects that started out as ~FAST Tex collaborations are showing up in increasing numbers in the entries for the university's prestigious instructional technology awards program, IITAP.

K-16 Coordination
The role of coordinating K-16 activities for the University is a natural for DIIA because the division staff works and makes connections with faculty and programs all across campus.
