New and Experienced Faculty and GSI Seminars

New Faculty Teaching, Learning, and Orientation Seminar
This four-day seminar is an annual event for new faculty sponsored by DIIA. The program underscores the university's commitment to teaching excellence, and introduces newcomers to the resources and services available to support them.

Teaching and Learning Colloquium
Just before the beginning of the spring semester, all faculty are invited to take part in a two-morning colloquium on current teaching issues of importance to UT Austin. The event is organized by DIIA and features sessions by faculty who are using teaching innovations in their classes. Hands-on workshops are also available.

Colloquium for Graduate Students
At the beginning of each academic year DIIA sponsors a colloquium for graduate students. During this one-day colloquium graduate students will build instructional skills, and new teaching assistants will be introduced to expectations for teaching at the university. Attendees also receive elective credit towards an ASPECTS certificate.

Departmental Workshops
Division staff are available for department-sponsored workshops about effective teaching or other teaching issues.

Instructional Technology Workshops, Seminars, and Online Tutorials
DIIA's Center for Instructional Technologies offers hands-on workshops, courseware tools training, and workshops and online introductory videos on technology classroom console training. Custom instruction is also available for any group of five or more, and CIT can provide specialized training sessions for courses.

Computer Technology Seminars for Faculty
Planned to coincide with the new and experienced faculty conferences, these joint training seminars are taught by staff members from ITS Training, the Center for Instructional Technologies, and General Libraries.
