Awards Program To Showcase Innovative Instructional Technology

On Wednesday, April 23 at the 11th annual Innovative Instructional Technology Awards Program (IITAP), twelve inventive faculty members who have modeled pioneering teaching with technology will learn who will be honored as bronze, silver, and gold winners, for cash awards totaling $10,000.

IITAP is an initiative of the provost to encourage, support, and reward innovation in using instructional technology to promote students’ knowledge and skills by making learning more engaging, relevant, and active. DIIA—which received the 2005 Center of Excellence Award from the New Media Consortium (NMC)—views IITAP as central to its mission to integrate pedagogy, technology, and assessment. Like the NMC award for member institutions, the IITAP awards recognize UT Austin faculty for outstanding achievement in the application of technology to learning.

After entries were reviewed by experts to determine finalists, winners were selected by a panel of judges composed of previous IITAP winners, members of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers, and experts in instructional design. The pool of entries for 2008 reflects a distinguished and eclectic group of faculty:
